<p>I was one of those obese Americans. While not grossly overweight, I did represent the vast majority of Americans that probably need to drop about 10 to 15 pounds to achieve a healthy level. As a result, my blood pressure was high as well as my cholesterol. However, also like most Americans, I decided to change that. Not only for myself, but for my wife and family.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>For the vast majority of my life, I had the impression that eating healthy had to come at the expense of a variety of things that I enjoyed about food. Most of which was the taste and presentation of the food I ate. Secondly, as part of this modern globalized world, the attraction of “…grabbing something to eat on the way home” was practically a weekly if not every other day ritual. Sometimes this was due to necessity, but most of the time it was out of laziness.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>I am on a journey. A journey to prove myself wrong about how eating healthy can be inexpensive, just as convenient as fast food, and have as good if not better taste than foods I had enjoyed previously.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve also learned only to ever purchase premium grade ground beef as otherwise you&#8217;re buying horrid fat.</p>
<p>With premium grade ground beef, it&#8217;s all good meat and you don&#8217;t have to waste time draining away excess fat.</p>
<p>Likewise with chicken &#8211; I make sure only to purchase skinned chicken pieces or if I buy the whole chicken, I take the time to skin and remove the fat.</p>
<p>I make meat loaf with all the different variations and my family love this meal.</p>
<p>I also make various dishes with chicken pieces.  </p>
<p>These dishes are good for freezing and are great as left over meals too.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s how I make my family meals healthy with cheap cuts of meat, cooked with interesting flavors.</p>

<p><i>Answer by dave k</i><br/>you could try for breakfast a healthy kind of cereal with fruit and milk you like with a slice of peanut butter toast and orange juice. lunch a sandwich and nuts. dinner some source of protein and possibly a salad. drinking water instead of soda makes a big difference as well. also some yogurt to snack in between if you get hungry would be good</p>
